About the course

Microbial Ecology and Industrialisation - TLC LM4

Ecology is the science that specifically examines the relationship between microorganisms and their biotic and abiotic environment. Like plant, animal and human ecology, the microbial ecology applies the general ecological principles to explain life functions of microorganisms in situ, i.e., directly in their natural environment rather than simulated under artificial laboratory conditions ex situ or in vitro. In this course, we shall consider the various environments where microbes can exist, microbial interactions, soil microbiology, soil components and roles of soil water. The last module focuses on microbial ecology and industrialization, with subsections on bioremediation and wastewater treatment.
